A pool renovation is the way to restore a faulty, leaking or severely outdated pool to its former glory. After all, an unusable pool adds little value to a property. On the contrary… a sad hole with some dry leaves or a muddy puddle of water in a corner might be a reason NOT to buy a property. Whether you own a house with a defective swimming pool or you want to buy such a property, it may be worth finding out whether a renovation is feasible and what the costs are. To boost the value of your house, or – for a new owner – to be able to fully enjoy your own pool.
Renovating a pool as an owner
Of course a pool renovation is always a good idea if you plan to enjoy living in your home for many years to come, but your pool has lost its ‘sparkle’. Bringing you tired old pool back to life, you will reignite the great feeling of having a luxury swimming pool. And while you’re at it, maybe you want to change the water filtering system, add solar heating or have a pool cover built to prolong the season? Or even have beautiful glass fencing built to make your pool area safer for (grand)children? Whatever your plans, our professional pool builders will be able to help you get them done!
Pool renovation for a property sale
If you want to sell your property in France but your pool is not presentable, this is a major negative. The new owner will have to do the pool renovation himself but is uncertain about the cost. This is detrimental to a successful sale. It pays to have the pool renovation done before the sale so that you can offer a property with a beautiful and functional pool. The added value is often considerably higher than the renovation costs! Alternatively, you can also just have a quote for the renovation done, so you can remove some of the uncertainty from buyers.
Buying a house with a swimming pool to renovate
It is not uncommon for Anglophone buyers in France to fall in love with a good looking and beautifully located house with – unfortunately – a totally neglected swimming pool. You have probably seen the sales ads with pictures of a sad, empty swimming pool or a neglected pool that looks more like a pond full of duckweed. Or the ads that are ominously missing pictures of the pool mentioned in the text. Still, investing in a house with a defective pool in France can actually be quite interesting, because in many cases a pool renovation is cheaper than building a completely new pool. After all… you no longer need to have a basin dug and, if all goes well, the foundation and the pipework are already in place. Sometimes replacing the liner or some pumps and filters is enough to make the pool sparkle in the French sun again. But during negotiations, you can use the deplorable state of the pool to push down the price of the property. After all, you are buying a luxury property with a swimming pool that is more of a burden than an asset!
Technical pool survey
Are you planning to buy a property with a neglected and/or defective swimming pool in France? Then let our pool builders do a technical survey before the purchase, to find out what renovating your French pool would cost. You’ll only pay for our hours. If you decide to buy the house and have us carry out the renovation, we will reimburse you the quote costs.
